Treatments For Ocular Headaches
Ocular migraines (ophthalmic migraine) are a special type of vascular migraines. They are usually harmless and painless but are causing visual disturbances which can take many different forms. A small patch of your vision can become obscured for example, growing bigger or moving out of your sight again just to disappear after a few minutes or an hour at all.
Ocular migraines don't need treatment unless they don't go away or causing pain. The vision disturbance is caused by a temporary disfunction of a special part of your brain which is responsible for the vision and is located in the back of your brain and named the occipital cortex. There is an interruption in the optimal blood supply because the blood vessels spasm. This is different to the normal migraines where the blood vessels dilate and take too much blood what causes the pain.
The causes for ocular migraines are unclear. It is known that strong exercise, stress and certain foods can trigger this migraine. Get aware of your eating habits and what possibly triggers your ocular migraine. Artificial sweeteners and sweeties can be a cause.
