Often a so called aura precedes the migraine. The aura is a neurological disfunction which can take last up to 30 minutes but is not harmful. The symptoms are similar to those of a stroke, so if you are in doubt you should consult a doctor immediately. They symptoms are sight problems or feeling a tease in hands and arms for example.
Many don't know that there a migraines without a headache. In this case the person only experiences the neurological problems of the aura. A migraine is also often confused with cluster headaches but they are different. A cluster headache is also a strong headache, often even worse than a migraine. Unlike the migraine the cluster headache comes in several sudden attacks of 15 to 180 minutes and then can disappear for weeks. It also comes with other symptoms like a droopy eyelid or sweating and lying down makes it worse while relaxation makes a migraine better.
