What You Can Do Against Migrane Headaches
There are over 220 different types of headaches. A headache (cephalalgia) is described as a pain in the head, at the temples, the base of the skull or over the eyes. Migranes are strong headaches and characterized as a severe pain usually in one side of the head only.
There are many reasons and causes for headmache racks. Most are harmless and the pain relief comes from alone after withdrawing the reason for it. Simple eye strain can cause headache for instance if you work on your computer for hours. Getting a better monitor and taking short breaks can remove the pain. Relaxing your muscles in your shoulder and neck can help as well.

The most common type of headache is the tension headache with more than 80% of the population suffering from it. This muscular (myogenic) headache happens when the facial or neck muscles are stressed too much. But there are three more types of headaches, the vascular, traction and inflammatory headache.
Migraine is a vascular headache and more common in women. Headache produced by fever is also a vascular headache as well as cluster headaches which are characterized by strong head aching coming from high blood pressure. An Inflammatory headache is a symptom of a stroke or infection and needs treatment.
Today there are many treatments and remedies. Over 100 drugs and natural treatments are available. Since the reason for a headache is often unknown, the most common ways to treat the pain is symptomatic by taking over-the-counter drugs like Aspiring (Acetaminophen), Paracetamol or Ibuprofen.
Popular natural cures are feverfew, vitamin B2, Magnesium and coenzyme Q10. Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor and helps with muscular headache. Simple home made treatments can also bring relief like cooling the head, drinking coffee with citrons, mint oil applied to the temples.
You will have to visit your doctor if your headache is not going away, getting stronger or if you experience additional symptoms like neuralgia, dizziness, sight problems or problems with the memory. A doctor can make a CT (computer tomography) of the brain and sinuses. Blood tests can be helpful as well.
